Join us at the Library for the 3rd Annual Pasquotank Family Literacy Festival on Saturday, September 13th from 10 AM to 1 PM. The festival will be indoors, with activities held throughout the library, both upstairs and downstairs. There will be free books and activities for children and families, chances to connect with local community resources, and special story times hosted by local and young authors. This year, we are also happy to announce that Elizabeth City State University will be providing a free literacy workshop during the event entitled "Smart Homework Help: A Parent's Guide to Supporting Kids with AI" to help families develop homework routines as they get rolling into the new school year. The workshops will be held at 10:30 & 11 am.
The Albemarle Alliance for Children and Families (AACF) is also sponsoring a special visiting author at the event! Mr. Darren Farrell is the author of Dandelion Magic, Letter Town, and Thank You, Octopus, just to name a few. He will be in-person at the event with interactive activities, a special story time read, and maybe a sneak peek at his upcoming new book, Lion in Bed. He will be available throughout the event with a special story time at 11:30 am.
If you can't make it to the event and still want to help, the Pasquotank & Camden County Libraries will be collecting new and gently used children's books prior to the event. So bring your book donations with you during your next visit to the Library and place them in the marked donation bin. Thanks in advance for helping us provide free books for children and we hope to see you on September 13th!
